Maurice Jessup first set foot on Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch after hitch-hiking from Oklahoma to work at what was then a youth camp. He instantly fell in love with the breathtaking views and vowed to someday own the ranch. When the property came up for sale in 1946 he made good on his promise. Today the Jessup family continues living Maurice’s legacy. For almost 70 years they have owned and operated Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch. Life on the ranch hasn’t always been easy. In 1976 the property was damaged by the Big Thompson flood. A love for this land fueled the recovery effort and Sylvan Dale came back bigger and stronger. In the 1990’s the Jessup family honored Maurice’s legacy by putting 1700 acres of wildlife habitat into a conservation easement. In 2013 disaster struck again. Another flood roared down Big Thompson Canyon destroying everything in its path. Sylvan Dale was no exception. Join us for a tour of the property and learn what makes Sylvan Dale Strong!
