SMALL TREE GRANT

The purpose of this grant is to help groups within our District obtain conservation grade trees, shrubs, and perennial plants at a minimal cost. These trees, shrubs and perennial plants will be taken from the overflow plants from our yearly seedling tree sale, you may accept or pass on available items.

FUNDABLE PROJECT GRANTS

This mission of the WGCD small grant program is to fund innovative projects that promote natural resource conservation in Weld County. We specifically aim to fund projects that support:

Conservation (wildlife, soils, water, recycling/compost, renewable energy, etc.)

Science Education

Connection between urban communities and agriculture

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The grant is open to educational entities, non-profits, community, and student groups. Projects must benefit Weld County, with preference given to those within the WGCD boundaries.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed monthly; applications will be reviewed every 2nd Monday of the month at our board meeting. After the meeting the district will let you know if you have been accepted

AWARD INFORMATION

The maximum award amount for most grants is $1,500. Special consideration will occasionally be given to projects with budgets of up to $10,000 that demonstrate potential for significant impact. Payment is generally made on a reimbursement basis after the project/event has been completed and the applicant has submitted copies of bills and/or receipts that match their submitted budget. For awards over $600, the income may be taxable. The District will send an IRS W-9 form to applicants to which this requirement may apply and will report the income on a 1099-MISC form.

Provide an itemized budget for the total amount of funding you are requesting and how you will use the money (i.e., staff, travel, materials, etc.)
