Every year, WGCD supports local high school students who wish to compete in Envirothon, a statewide ecology competition. The District connects teachers to coaching resources for the competition and pays entrance fees.
Winners from each state advance to compete against teams from across the United States and Canada. Students learn team building and communication skills, and deepen their knowledge of forestry, wildlife biology, aquatic ecology, soils and land use. Student teams, along with at least one dedicated teacher, typically start training for the event early in the year. They compete in April. We are looking for teams to support in 2017.
